Why changes are being introduced in the PMP Exam?

The PMP exam has been updated in accordance with the September 2017 release of the PMBOK Guide – Sixth Edition. The changes ensure compatibility between the Guide and the exam. Though the Guide is now one of the primary references for the exam, it does not mean that the candidates’ knowledge of the PMBOK Guide will be tested.

Changes in the PMP Exam

The PMBOK Guide – Sixth Edition has been updated with the following changes:

A new chapter explaining the role of a Project Manager has been introduced. The chapter emphasizes on effective leadership and includes topics such as necessary competencies, experience and skills.

Two Knowledge Areas have been renamed:

  • Schedule Management (earlier known as Time Management)
  • Resource Management (earlier known as Human Resource Management)
  • Four new features have been added to every Knowledge Area
